SaniTwice™: Hand "Washing" Without Water
SaniTwice™ is simply a new hand cleansing protocol for light to moderate soiling, when water is not readily available. It can be an ideal alternative for outdoor events and portable bars.
Step 1– Apply alcohol hand-sanitizer generously.
Step 2 – “Wash” vigorously for 20 seconds, simulating the action, the friction with the claw-to-paw technique, as you would when washing with soap and water.
Step 3 – Wipe off/dry with a disposable paper towel.
Step 4– Re-apply Food Code compliant alcohol hand-sanitizer according to label instructions.
“The SaniTwice protocol yields a level of hand cleanliness that is equal to that achieved with a traditional soap & water hand wash in low to medium soil situations.”
– Jim Mann, Executive Director and Chief Scientific Officer, The Handwashing For Life Institute.
The SaniTwice Training & Commitment System
This system is designed to raise employee awareness of the importance of hand cleanliness when serving ready-to-eat food and drink. It provides the why, when and how to use along with a quiz and training record.

Laboratory Results
BioScience, one of the premier independent laboratories, confirms that the SaniTwice protocol yields a level of hand cleanliness that is equal
to that achieved with a traditional soap & water handwash in low
to medium soil situations.

Visual Confirmation of Cleaning
This monitor is visually displaying the soil removed by the SaniTwice™ hand “wash.” SaniTwice™ is a hand hygiene process to deal with light soiling situations where water is not readily available. All that is needed is a dispenser of Food Code compliant alcohol hand sanitizer and single-use paper towels.
After applying GlitterBug tracer lotion to the hands, simulating light to medium soil, the SaniTwice protocol was followed. The single-use paper towel, used after the first application to pick up the loosened soil, did just that. The used towel was then placed in a camera-equipped disclosure box. The above image shows significant soil removal, in keeping with the BioScience laboratory findings.
